Police issue warning as scammers pose as officers to try and get financial details
Scammers are posing as police officers to try and dupe people into handing over financial information. Phone calls even appear to come from a local police station, say officers from Camden Police Area Command in NSW, which is a warning the public to beware of the new tactics.
TV Licensing Authority?
I was called from this number today.
I would be interested to know whether others, who receive calls from this number, also do not have a TV license like me.
My call was on the same day a TV licensing goon visited my home - I told him to eff-off.
The first question the caller asks is your name. This is what TVLA do when they visit your home, they try to establish your identity (thereby 'contracting' with you).
The caller stated he was from Virgin Media however, it was only with my cooperation that he was able to confirm what packages I receive.
I clearly stated I am not interested in a TV package. The caller hung up.
Please comment and confirm whether you have a TV license or not. Also, whether ANY reference was made to TV viewing (ie, "Did you see the TV ad"? or "As seen on TV" etc).
