New report highlights ‘rampant’ phone spam problem; 73.6M unwanted calls per day in Q1
A new report from Seattle startup Hiya highlights the ongoing problem of phone fraud and spam calls. The report found that during the first quarter of this year, nearly 25% of all unknown calls globally were flagged as spam or fraud — that’s 73.6 million per day.
Got a call from this number again today, had one yesterday but did not answer that, as I suspected Ambulance Chaser. Well today I answered, and as I thought, they pretended they wanted someone else, this is a ruse to gain talking to you, to which I made the person calling spell the name of the suspected fictitious character, thus wasting her time and costing Icemark excess telephone call time. Finally after a few minutes of invaluable time wasting I told the nuisance, on the other end of the line that I was fed up with them calling me, to which she replied that this was the first time they had called, well there must be another company with exactly the same telephone number as theirs, because that number rang me yesterday.
